Earlier this month, had unveiled the Xperia Z1f in , which many thought as a region specific model. However, new evidence has now surfaced online, suggesting the company may launch an international variant soon.
Popular spy, @evleaks has released a picture of an unseen smartphone, titled Xperia Z1S, which is understood to be the global variant of the recently released Xperia Zf (SO-02f) aka Xperia Z1 Mini. However, some tech blogs have hinted, it might be the US bound Xperia Z1 model, but it will remain speculation until Sony offficially confirms the smartphone model. As of now, Sony Xperia Z1f (SO-02f) is retailed exclusively by ese carrier NTT Docomo and is reported to go on sale later in the year. The smartphone packs pretty much the same hardware components seen in the original Xperia Z1 sans the display. It sports 4.3-inch HD (720x1280p) screen and runs on the v4.2.2 Jelly Bean powered by 2.2GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor with Adreno 330 graphics engine.
Other key specifications include 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory, 20.7-megapixel camera, 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera and 2,300 mAh battery.
If the rumour of a Sony Xperia Z1 mini international variant turns out to be true, the Japanese company will have the distinction of offering true premium phone in a small package, compared to rivals who offer smaller variants of their top marquee models, with stripped down specifications. For instance Galaxy S4 Mini and One Mini come packed with only half the features of their original flagship models.
