The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which several times has been pegged for October, has once again been rumored for an October roll out with the software said to be just one to two weeks away making an Android 4.3 roll out in October likely at this point.
Last month, during the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch, Samsung said that it would be rolling out three updates during the month of October. Those updates, for the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 were not named but it's clear that they will be Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates thanks to rumors and thanks to the fact that Android 4.3 utilizes Bluetooth LE, something that benefits the Bluetooth-powered Galaxy Gear. The updates have been labeled as Galaxy Gear support updates.
Thanks to leaks and carrier timing, we know that the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates are a little behind schedule at the moment and are thought to be coming later in the year. The Galaxy S4 update on the other hand is heavily rumored for October with rumors and timing from French carrier SFR pointing to an arrival sometime this month.
Now, a new report has seemingly pinpointed its arrival with SamMobile suggesting that the software is one to two weeks away, putting it within the month of October. There is no specific date, there rarely is because these updates can see their release dates change at the drop of a dime, but this is based on current information which means an arrival in October is likely.
Even better, those who own the GT-I9505 have seen their Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update leak ahead of time though it appears to be test firmware. At this point, given how close the arrival of the official update is, we highly suggest waiting for the OTA update. Those who do choose to take the plunge should expect this to not be the final version of the software.
From the looks of things, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is going to be a fairly incremental update for the Galaxy S4 in that it comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean feature but not much else. There will be tweaks and changes to Samsung's TouchWiz UI, but owners should not expect them to be substantial.
Once the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update is out, then it should be full speed ahead with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates, both of which appear to be more substantial than the Galaxy S4′s.
